Dawn and William’s Wedding

Categories

A couple of years ago I captured Kayleigh and Lewis’s wedding  at, the now sadly closed, Airth Castle. Shortly after the gallery was delivered I got a call. Lewis’s best man and partner wanted to book me for their wedding. And this is their story.

What a Belter!

Back in 2008 at the notorious Edge Pub in Falkirk William and Dawn were just two singletons out with their respective pals. Between the two groups there were some mutual friends and gradually that night the two groups became one big group. Now Dawn was having a wardrobe malfunction that night in so much as the trousers she was wearing were too loose and kept falling down. A few drinks had made Dawn bold and she decided the only way to solve this problem would be to procure a belt from someone else. So she stole William’s belt! Instead of being cross, William decided he liked the belt thief and asked for her number.

About Time

In 2010 William ‘accidentally’ proposed to Dawn in a friends car, whilst drunk. He made up for it a few weeks later by taking Dawn to Callendar Park and getting down on one knee to do it properly.

Finally, 14 years later they got around to getting married.

Wedding Weather

Regular readers of my wedding blogs will know I spend a lot of time praying to the weather gods and this was no exception. After having 14 years to plan her perfect wedding Dawn had left nothing to chance, the only thing she couldn’t control was the weather. Luckily, after a shaky start the weather was looking like it would hold for us. Fingers crossed.

Something In Your Eye

William was very relaxed before the ceremony, chatting away with family and friends.

But even he got glassy-eyed as the doors opened and Dawn walked in, resplendent in a light pink shimmery dress from Prom Royale

During the heartfelt ceremony conducted by Barbara Campbell there was some hanky action from both bride and groom! And then Dawn was finally Mrs Wright.

Confetti Time

I love a staged confetti walk for photo opportunities, and we made the most of it as the weather was still holding. The guests got into the spirit of it and pelted the confetti at the newlyweds!

Weather...Still Holding

Keeping one eye on the clouds, I managed to get all the formal group shots my couple wanted outside.

Then we headed off with their sons to The Kelpies. Or rather E.X.Z Wedding Cars took us to my favourite spot to ensure the Kelpies looked glorious in the background but my wedding couple didn’t have to spend ages getting past well-wishers in the visitors area.

We got back to the Leapark Hotel and managed to get a few more bride and groom portraits in my favourite places to shoot there before the rain started spitting.

Then as the guests were called through for the wedding breakfast, the heavens opened and the rain started bouncing off the pavements. I felt smug that we had timed it just right 🙂

Skulls at a Wedding?

When I first met with Dawn and William at their house I noticed their impressive collection of decorative skulls. Some of them even made it into the wedding decor. During the meal it was the perfect opportunity for me to capture some macro shots of the rings with the skulls.

Cake and Dancing

Before you knew it, the evening guests had arrived, the cake was cut and it was time for the first dance as husband and wife.

As I got back in the car and put a photography podcast on, I reflected that it was now a longer drive home from this venue to Auchterarder than when I lived in Larbert. But that the trip was totally worth it to capture memories like these.

Congratulations again Mr & Mrs Wright xXx
