Edinburgh City Chambers – Danielle & Stephen’s Wedding

When You Know, You Know.
Danielle and Stephen met in a well-known Falkirk drinking establishment about nine years ago via mutual friends. They went on their first date and Stephen moved in the very next day!!
It took him a wee bit longer to propose…seven years and two kids to be precise but it was very romantic. It was Christmas day and Danielle opened a gift of her favourite perfume from Stephen. Unbeknown to her Stephen had removed the ring decoration on the top of the bottle and replaced it with an engagement ring. When she turned around he was on bended knee asking her to marry him. Awwww.
An Intimate Affair
With neither Danielle nor Stephen enjoying being the centre of attention they had originally wanted to elope for their wedding. But thanks to some gentle persuasion from some family members they decided to have an intimate affair in Edinburgh. I for one am very glad they did 🙂
Edinburgh City Chambers on the Royal Mile is a beautiful venue and with the wedding being late afternoon and at Christmas time there were twinkly lights everywhere.
There was also a lot of construction work going on at the chambers and the beautiful outside cobbled courtyard was covered in scaffolding 🙁 .Not too worry lots of tight crops and blurred backgrounds saved the day.
As you can see my groom was looking very smart in his kilt as we waited for his beautiful bride to arrive.
Danielle and her Dad arrived with the kids in a gorgeous vintage wedding car. Thankfully the driver was happy to let me clamber all over the front seats to get this shot.
Family Are Everything
Before Danielle and her Dad walked down the aisle, the couple’s two children, Lexi and Stephen junior walked down first causing many an awwww from the guests.
Totes Emosh
I love capturing the groom’s reaction as the bride walks down the aisle as much as I enjoy images of the bride walking down. But this wedding aisle moment was super special. As soon as Stephen saw Danielle his emotions took over.
As soon as she saw Stephen she got emotional too.
I’m not sure if there was a dry eye left amongst the guests. I certainly got a little emotional watching them but luckily I was able to hide behind my camera so I think I got away with it 😉
It was a beautiful service and the couple’s vows to each other rung out loud and clear for all to witness.
Youngest Ever Witness
.The couple that witnessed the signing of the wedding register had a six-week new baby boy. Who was not only immaculately behaved during the ceremony (as all the kids were), had the tiniest little matching kilt on. Handmade by his clever mummy.
Is that not just the cutest thing ever?
Group Shots
With the Courtyard in scaffolding and the staircase out of bounds due to COVID I had to think on my feet. The waiting room next to the ceremony room was very nicely decorated. So once I set out moving all their carefully arranged furniture out the way (sorry not sorry) I had enough space to work with.
Aren’t they a well-turned-out group of guests?
Twinkly Lights
By the time we stepped outside it was dark and the Christmassy lights up and down the Royal Mile were twinkling away. I knew that St Giles Cathedral across the road has a beautiful Christmas tree. I was determined to use it for my couple’s formal pictures.
Coupled with Danielle’s sparkly veil it made for some lovely images.
Also outside on the cobbles is a heart. So when you’ve got a couple as loved up as these two you’ve got to photograph them next to it, right?
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Coutts. You may have been my last wedding of 2021 but you certainly weren’t my least.
