Glenbervie House – Anne and Ally’s Wedding
“Being someone’s first love is great, but being their last is beyond perfect.” – Unknown
Black Gold
Anne and Ally’s story started over 15 years ago when they met through work at an oil company in Aberdeen. At some point during their interactions Ally noticed that Anne was no longer wearing a wedding ring and he promptly asked her out on a date.
Fast forward to a city break in York and a bunch of flowers nabbed from the hotel reception and Ally surprised Anne with a proposal by the river.
Beautiful Day for a Wedding
Despite raining the week leading up to Anne and Ally’s big day, the sun shone brightly on the day itself. It was lovely to be back at fantastic local venue Glenbervie House.
It was so bright my handsome groom had to wear his shades. (Kilt from MacGregor & MacDuff ).
Meanwhile, up in one of the rooms, Anne was having a lovely time with her mum, sister, and daughter, getting their hair (Dimensions) and makeup (Zuri Boutique) expertly done whilst sipping champagne.
It was whilst Anne was getting the final touches added to her makeup that I stole a quick image of the back of her stunning dress from Heritage Bridal.
Family Affair
What I loved about Anne and Ally’s wedding was how they had included their families in everything. Anne’s son walked her down the aisle and her daughter was her chief bridesmaid. Ally’s son-in-law was his best man and various nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and godchildren all played a role in the processional.
Plenty of Ahhhhh moments as all these littles came down the aisle. They were supposed to be scattering petals out of their wee baskets but none of them wanted to! And when you look as cute as this lot did – you get away with it!
Anne was radiant as she walked down the aisle, with a mega-watt smile for Ally. (Flowers by Inflorescence )
Charity Shops, Cars, and Walking Speeds
No, I am not just throwing out random words, these are all things that were mentioned in Anne and Ally’s ceremony conducted by Humanist, Robert Anthony. Needless to say, it was funny and poignant all at the same time.
Continuing to include family members, Anne’s brother read a poem and the couple had a quaich ceremony where Ally was very keen to prove that he had finished the whisky!
Smile!
Time for the formal pictures out in the glorious September sunshine. Anne had asked during our pre-consultation for a picture of all the little flower girls and paige boy and I promised to do my best.
I think we got most of them!
Once all the family groups were captured it was time to take the bride and groom for their formals.
Oh My!
Those of you that know me well know that I am a sucker for Porsche 911’s. If you know me really well you know that I had an old artic silver 996 Carrera 4 for almost 10 years. Imagine my delight then when at our pre-wedding consultation Ally mentioned he’d just bought a brand new 992 Turbo S in crayon that he wanted some of their pictures in! Woohoo! Imagine my even greater delight when on the day he’d added tin cans and ‘Just Married’ decals to it. Have I mentioned recently how much I fricken love my job?!
I simply had to get that car onto Glenbervie’s stunning driveway.
This might be my fave picture from the day 🙂
Ally and I did tear ourselves away from the car to take some images without it as well!
Glenbervie has so many stunning locations for pictures, especially when the weather is as good as it was.
Let Them Eat Cake
It was time for the meal and speeches. Anne’s mum had hand embellished aprons for all the flower girls so they didn’t get food down their pretty dresses.
With so many little people at the wedding, Anne and Ally had created a kid-friendly zone with teepees, toys, and inflatables. It was a huge hit and kept them all entertained.
Before the speeches, Anne and Ally cut their spectacular cake created by Falkirk Cakes.
Wheely Good!
Whilst everyone was tucking into their yummy food I snuck off with the wedding rings and bouquet for a few close-up detail images.
Of course, the Porsche was calling to me again like the siren that she is. Anyone looking out the window would be wondering why I was sitting on the gravel staring intently at one of the front wheels.
Where else would you photograph the rings???
Time To Dance
These two families love to dance and couldn’t wait to get onto the dance floor once the DJ started. But first Anne and Ally took to the dance floor for the first time as husband and wife.
I love turning first dance images into black and white. It gets rid of all the annoying disco lights (sorry dj’s but your lights are annoying!) and just focuses on the two important people.
All too soon it was time to leave these guys to party the night away. As I drove the 3 miles back to my house (I said it was a local venue) I thought about what a wonderful day it was and about that gorgeous car. Okay, it was mainly about that car – but can you blame me?!
Congratulations again Mr and Mrs McLaren xXx
