Engagement Photography
“When a soul is created, so is its mate. In every lifetime those souls find each other. They complete the other’s destiny.” — Abbi Glines
Way back in January I ran a competition at the Wedding Fair at Hampden Park. It was for one lucky couple to win an Engagement Photo Shoot at a location of their choice. Emily and Ryan were the winners!
An engagement shoot is a great way to get used to being in front of the camera before your wedding. It can also be a good source of material for creating ‘Save the Date’ cards
Finally, after a few false starts thanks to the unpredictability of the Scottish weather, we had the most beautiful sunny day in May.
Hogganfield Park in Glasgow looked glorious in the sunshine as did my couple. Emily looks like a younger, prettier Reese Witherspoon and Ryan didn’t scrub up too badly either 🙂
We picked the location as it was close to where they lived and with lots of lush greenery and a serene lake with lots of swans gliding on it – I’d say we did good!
I like to start an Engagement shoot with some fun casual poses to ‘warm’ the couple up first. Emily and Ryan took to it like total pros! In fact, they didn’t stop laughing throughout the whole session.
Talking Turkey
Emily and Ryan met as kids on holiday in Turkey. Emily was there with her family from Ireland and Ryan from Scotland. Emily’s brother was the same age as Ryan and Ryan’s sister was the same age as Emily and along with a whole gang of other kids that were there they all soon became firm friends that lasted well after the holiday was over.
Emily whispered that she knew then that they would be together (*swoon*). Ryan wanted it on record that he and his sister wrote loads of letters to Emily and her brother and got very few in return!!
Soulmates
Eight years later they met back up and that was that! They’ve been together ever since.
Before the engagement shoot, Emily and I swapped ideas and Pinterest boards for some quirky ‘Save the Date’ ideas. To my delight, they were both on board for some fun ideas. I’m dying to show the finished creation here as I LOVE the final result but I can’t in case they pick that design. If you’re interested check out my website gallery as I will put it up there once they are all done and posted.
To Rome with Love
Ryan whisked Emily away for a surprise visit to Rome to pop the question (can these two get any cuter?). He did it with a beautiful solitaire diamond engagement ring that was certainly sparkling in the May sunshine.
A Thoroughly Irish/Scottish Affair
Emily and Ryan will get married in Emily’s hometown in Ireland next year and I’m certain it will be an amazing day to remember.
Congratulations Emily and Ryan! A truly beautiful couple inside and out.
