Kirsten & David’s Wedding

There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.

You've Been Framed

Kirsten moved to London from Scotland with work and decided to go online to meet people. In the summer of 2017 she started chatting to David online, and they decided to have their first actual date at the National Gallery. David recalls Kirsten took his breath away in a beautiful royal blue dress.

They hit it off straight away and enjoyed their visit at the gallery. In fact, they got so engrossed in the artwork – a security guard had to pull them back from a painting!

A year later, fate intervened as they both had leases on properties running out, so they moved in together. David enjoyed meeting Kirsten’s family in Scotland and learning the Scottish term ‘Bide In’ for Kirsten living with him unmarried really tickled him.

Kirsten wasn’t expecting to be any more than David’s bide in. David having been through a very painful divorce. But then, last year, during a weekend away at their favourite spot in Devon, David took Kirsten by surprise by asking her to become his wife.

Lights Out & They're Off

Kirsten and David were always going to get married in Central Scotland, but their venue The Stirling Highland Hotel, sealed the deal with their ceremony room being called the Mclaren Suite. Perfect for two massive F1 McLaren Team fans! So much so, the wedding time was pushed back to later in the afternoon to allow them to watch qualifying on the day!

There were more subtle nods to their shared passion during the wedding, with the decor and flowers having a subtle orange and blue theme like their favourite team colours. More about the cake later…

Scottish Wedding

David and his family (including the Canadian contingent) fully embraced the Scottishness of the wedding. I think David was already a fan of whisky and he and his best man looked very dapper in their kilts enjoying a dram before the ceremony started.

VIP Guest

As the guests started to take their seats a member of hotel staff bought a dog bed to the front of the guest chairs.

This was for Lily. David’s elderly rescue dog, who had been with him since a pup and helped him through his difficult breakup. Now a beloved pet of both of them there was no way she was going to miss the day. She looked resplendent in her floral collar and was led in on her wedding lead.

Vision In Blue

Instead of a traditional white wedding dress, Kirsten wore a stunning royal blue dress. The same colour as she wore on their very first date. David couldn’t take his eyes of his bride as her Dad walked her towards him.

I'm Not Crying, You're Crying

The ceremony was beautiful, conducted by celebrant Catherine Simpson. Kirsten and David opted to write their own vows to each other. As they read them to each other, everyone was glassy-eyed, including the photographer!

Then, as Catherine declared the happy couple husband and wife and everyone clapped with joy. Lily decided to add her own calls to the celebration!

After The Storm Comes The Rainbow

One of the unique features of this venue is an observatory up in the roof. After all the wedding group formals this is a great place to go with the wedding couple for some images looking out over Stirling and beyond.

Unfortunately, the wind and the rain started to come in but my plucky couple were undeterred.

I’m so glad they did as we were treated to a gorgeous rainbow arching over the Wallace Monument.

Vroom, There Goes The Cake

Remember that Formula 1 theme? Kirsten surprised David by adding some cars to the wedding cake (and the top table).

The Road To Happiness

After a wonderful wedding day Kirsten and David were heading off, with Lily, to drive the North Coast 500 for their honeymoon.

Congratulations again Mr & Mrs McDougall xXx
