Diamond Wedding Anniversary
I thought my last studio session of 2017 was a cracker! Then I did my very last shoot of the year at the Marriott Hotel in Edinburgh on the 22nd of December and it was a BELTER!!
You see 60 years ago on the 21st December Bill married his sweetheart Jessie. They wanted to celebrate with their family and close friends and organised a celebration in Edinburgh. Their daughters Liz and Jessie wanted to surprise them with some photographs from the day and booked me to take some photos of them all before they all sat down to eat.
Diamonds are forever
One of their daughter’s friends decorated the cake and it looked beautiful. When I arrived, next to the cake was a photograph of the cake cutting at the wedding all those years ago so of course, I had to get a picture of the happy couple then and now.
Whilst Jessie went to powder her nose Bill told me that they met underground when they were both working at a RAF base and that she agreed to date him despite the fact that he had a shock of bright ginger hair back then (I think that’s what attracted her to him!). He still looked so loved up as he was talking about his wife (swoon).
Shine bright like a diamond
Bill and Jessie were still acting like newlyweds which made my heart absolutely sing with joy. Bill had bought Jessie a beautiful diamond necklace and earring set for their anniversary that she was proudly showing off to her daughters and Jessie brought Bill a handsome watch.
They giggled like teenagers, were constantly holding hands and happy to smooch for the camera when I suggested it. Much to their daughter’s disgust!
Shine on you crazy diamond
I took pictures of the happy couple with Liz’s family, Jess’ family, all their grandkids and great-grandkids, Jessie’s brother (who was their best man) and finally the whole group. I just love everybody’s expressions in this picture as Bill and Jessie happily kissed for the camera AGAIN!
I got the pictures edited as quickly as possible so they could have them back before Christmas. It was lovely to wake up on Christmas morning to find an email one of the daughters had sent me late on Christmas eve:
Dear Jenny,
The photos are fantastic! Thank you for making such wonderful memories of the day for us.
I think we all felt very relaxed with you, and that shows in the photos. The rest of the day was great and I think mum and dad had a super time.
Thanks again.
Best Christmas present EVER 🙂
Oh yes, before I forget, those of you that follow me on Facebook know that I was going to ask them what the secret was to 60 years of wedded bliss. It apparently is…
…do what your wife tells you! 😉
