Glowing and Growing: How to Prepare for Your Maternity Photo Session

Pregnancy is such a beautiful chapter—and whether you’re feeling radiant or just really ready to meet your baby, a maternity session is the perfect way to celebrate this fleeting moment.

Here’s everything you need to know to feel confident, comfortable, and excited for your maternity shoot with JB Moments Photography.

When’s the Best Time to Book?

Maternity sessions are usually booked between 28–36 weeks. You’ll have a beautiful bump to show off, but you (hopefully!) won’t feel too tired or uncomfortable yet.

If you’re carrying multiples or are on the petite side, we might do it a little earlier—just let me know!

What to Wear?

The golden rule? Wear what makes you feel beautiful.

You’re welcome to:

  • Choose from my studio wardrobe, which includes floaty dresses and flattering pieces designed to highlight your bump.

  • Bring your own outfits—tight-fitting dresses, soft fabrics, or even jeans and a crop top can all look stunning.

You can also bring underwear in nude or black if you’d like to change into one of my outfits.

Feel free to bring props, scans, or special items (like baby shoes or a keepsake). We’ll make them part of your story.

Who Can Join?

This moment is about you—but it’s also about your growing family. Partners and children are more than welcome to join in the shoot.

If young siblings are taking part, I recommend bringing a snack and a toy to keep them happy when it’s not their turn to shine.

The Session Experience

Your session is relaxed, supportive, and designed to make you feel fabulous. I’ll guide you through flattering poses, soft lighting, and gentle direction so that you feel natural and confident in front of the camera.

We can do:

  • Studio sessions for an intimate, styled feel

  • Outdoor sessions if you want natural backdrops and golden-hour magic

And yes—tea, tissues, and patience are always on hand.

Final Thought

You’re creating life—and that’s worth celebrating. A maternity shoot captures the connection, the anticipation, and the love already blooming. It’s not just for the ‘gram. It’s a piece of your baby’s story. And yours.
