Pet Photography
Your pet is part of the family too and as such, they deserve to be captured in the same way.
Anyone who is even vaguely aware of me knows that I adore French Bulldogs. My own two, Bert and Ernie are the absolute loves of my life. So you can imagine my delight when Siobhan and Sean booked their 7-month-old Frenchie Polo in for a session ๐
Always up for a challenge
I shoot pets in a favourite location or in the studio (if their size permits!). Normally I allow up to an hour for a pet in the studio. This is so they can spend time getting used to the new surroundings and unfamiliar smells. Then we try a couple of setups and I go at the animal’s pace. Animal photography takes a LOT of patience.
Siobhan mentioned to me that they were hoping to create a calendar of Polo for Christmas gifts this year and wanted to use some of the shots from the session for that. That got me thinking…what if I could create enough different looks for all 12 months?
Polo the wonder dog
Lucky for me Polo was a natural. He strode into the studio, had a sniff, ate some treats and got straight down to the serious business of modelling like a true professional!
Meanwhile, Siobhan and Sean were put through their paces running around with toys, chew sticks and treats.
He was soooo cute I made sure I made time for tickles (for him) and ear licks (for me)!
Be my Valentine
I would love to share all the setups with you but if you are going to be one of the lucky recipients of the Polo 2019 calendar I don’t want to ruin it for you ๐
But with February being the love month Polo gave us his best Romeo impression. I certainly wouldn’t be upset to get a card from this handsome chap!
Spooktackular
October had to have a Halloween theme and Polo rocked the bat wings like a pro. Definitely more treat than trick.
Fall in love
November is all about Autumn colours and falling leaves. This boy loved chasing the leaves around the studio. He also liked trying to eat them!
Up, up and away
We did it! As well as these we had Christmas, birthday and lots of other different pictures for each month of the year. In fact, I usually guarantee around 20 images from a Pet shoot and I delivered nearly 50 for this gallery!
Polo was a wee champ. Siobhan and Sean sent a picture of him crashed out when they got home. Obviously being a model was hard work.
I couldn’t finish this blog without sharing my favourite picture from the shoot. It is a composite I bought for baby photographs. But as pets are often our babies too it made perfect sense to use it here.
Look at his little proud face! My heart!
This week I have more dogs in the studio as they join their family for some photos. I can’t wait ๐
