Oh, Baby Baby!
“Every child begins the world again” – Henry David Thoreau
Since being allowed to open my studio up again I have had the pleasure of meeting lots of new babies and I’m not at all upset about it at all!
Brothers & Sisters
What’s been lovely is that they have all had siblings that have been dead proud of their new baby brother or sister.
Like Joshua who is clearly delighted with his new baby brother Travis.
And Sophia who loves her little sister Emilia.
Just look at that face!!! Too cute
Talking of cute family poses look at baby Lucia being loved on by her big brother Joel.
All the heart eyes 🙂
Then of course there was baby Jaxen who not only wanted pictures with his big brother Cooper but with his two pet dogs as well.
Oh yeah, these guys nailed it with no need to head swap or composite in post processing. Super well behaved doggos, I could only imagine the chaos mine would cause trying to get this pose. There would be no studio letft!!!
Props for days
With so many littles in the studio I got chance to flex my prop cupboard.
It was fun to use my little wooden crate that I hadn’t had out of the cupboard in ages. Even though Jaxen was giving me his best angry face. Which, by the way, was still adorable.
Travis had his own prop as well in the form of his dad’s tartan and he seemed pretty chill with it.
His Mum had also mentioned that she loved stars so I couldn’t resist adding a little prop in post processing.
Sometimes props can be teeny tiny. Little Miss Lucia had just THE most perfect little tootsies and I couldn’t resist putting a little felted heart into.
Delicious, right?
Hair We Go
Baby Jaxen had the most amaxing mop of red hair that I was very partial to. He literally looked amazing in every colour I wrapped him in.
But he looked especially gorgeous in this baby blue colour. Oh and he also had the most kissable cheeks.
And if I’m going to be predictable and show you a boy on blue you bet I’m going to show you a baby girl on pink.
But with a black floral wrap just to show how sassy Miss Lucia is.
Mugshots
I always finish each newborn session with some mugshots. I really must give these a better name as they are all about the baby’s awake expressions captured overheard on a simple backdrop and processsed in black and white. But for now, mugshots it is!
Each baby gave me loads of great expressions and some great eye contact which is what I live for when shooting these images. But best of all was one of Miss Emilia’s that I simply had to share here.
I mean, come on!
Snuggles But No Sniffing
The only downside about having to wear a mask throughout the entire session (apart from the heat and being able to smile at the kiddos) is not being able to get covert lungfuls of that new baby head smell when parents aren’t looking. Or even when they are looking, I have no shame.
But I am still able to snuggle these bundles of absolute joy and that for me is priceless 🙂
