Airth Castle – Kayleigh and Lewis’s Wedding

Airth Castle – Kayleigh and Lewis’s Wedding

About Time

Kayleigh and Lewis first met through mutual friends around 15 years ago. They hung out together as friends for a year before getting together. Lewis proposed to Kayleigh on bended knee on a beach in Cornwall, where they were holidaying to celebrate their 10-year anniversary as a couple. To say Kayleigh was surprised after being together 10 years was an understatement!

I first met them when they bought their newborn son Lachlan for a photoshoot in my studio. After that, I was honored when they got in touch to ask if I would capture their wedding day for them as well.

Then the pandemic happened and everything got put on hold including their wedding. I was delighted to be able to do the revised date last month.

Chilled Out At The Castle

I was booked to cover bridal prep to first dance and the weather was glorious as I arrived at the venue for the day. I love Airth Castle as a wedding venue and whilst my last wedding there was all dramatic in the winter, it was lovely to shoot a summer wedding!

Kayleigh, her mum, and her two bridesmaids were super chill in her room getting ready.

Meanwhile, the guys were also getting in the spirit and Lachlan (who is now 2!) was just the most handsome little dude in his kilt. (Kilts by JH Kilt Hire)

A Slight Delay

The guests were all seated, the groom was in position and last I’d checked the bride was on her way. Minutes ticked by and finally, they arrived.

It was worth the wait (caused by poor Lachlan having a kilt malfunction), Kayleigh looked absolutely stunning in her dress from Special Day Bridal as did her bridesmaids in gorgeous sage green dresses from the same place. Kayleigh’s bouquet was a work of art from Narcissus Wedding Flowers by Susan (who also did the beautiful altar display), and I loved the rustic hoops the bridesmaids carried as an alternative to bouquets.

A Little Scene Stealer

As Kayleigh’s brother proudly walked her down the aisle she only had eyes for Lewis and vice versa. It was a heartfelt ceremony full of love and laughter. Finished with a whisky blending and quaich ceremony.

But a certain little man stole the show happily walking up and down the aisle between his grandparents chattering away to himself! He was so cute and I love how he gave his mum a big hug at the end.

That’s Magic

Whilst I was taking the formal images for the day Kayleigh and Lewis had hired Grant Mitchell a magician (not the guy on Eastenders) to entertain their wedding guests. He was very good and when we came back from the bride and groom images he did a trick just for them that astounded us all!

Talking Formals

So many good locations at Airth Castle for photographs both inside.

And outside.

But my absolute favourite was this one.

Golden Hour

After the speeches and wedding breakfast, most people headed outside to cool down before the evening party kicked off. The golden hour light was perfect so I got some more pictures of the new Mr and Mrs.

And of course Master Lachlan.

Cake Time

All too soon it was cake-cutting time. Kayleigh and Lewis made a valiant attempt to cut their gorgeous wedding cake by Truly Scrumptious with the huge sword Airth Castle supplies!

Then it was time for them to take to the floor for their first dance as husband and wife.

The party was well underway as I left with a smile on my face. Knowing I’d captured a truly lovely wee family’s special day. That was very much worth the wait 🙂

Congratulations Mr and Mrs MacDonald.
