Dollar Park, Falkirk – Janey & Steven’s Wedding

Dollar Park, Falkirk – Janey & Steven’s Wedding

What a scorcher! So far June has been a bit of a washout in Scotland, but the very first weekend in June was hot hot hot! There was not a cloud in the sky for Steven & Janey’s wedding day.

Birthdays, Dogs, and Knickers!

My lovely couple met around 5 and a half years ago via a mutual friend. Such was the attraction that Janey, a Glasgow girl at heart made the move through to Stenhousemuir to be with her love. The pair settled in together with their much-loved pooch, Cooper.

Steven proposed on Janey’s birthday. In fact, he was so keen to pop the question he jumped straight out of bed that morning and got down on one knee. Janey at this point was none the wiser, she thought that Steven had lost something and was rooting around on the floor for it. Meanwhile, Cooper was running around the room with a pair of Janey’s knickers!! Once she realised what was going on – it was quite the lovely surprise!

So Hot, Must Hydrate!

As I arrived at my usual parking spot for Falkirk Registrar’s Office I caught a glimpse of grey tartan kilt heading into Behind the Wall (a well-known watering hole in the vicinity). The sun was at its peak in the sky and it was pushing over 20 degrees (heatwave time in Scotland).

Steven, his best man Brian and the rest of the parched guests made it out just before Janey arrived.

Looking and feeling much better having rehydrated.

Just a Quickie

Having both been married before, my couple were keen to get to the husband and wife bit.

Janey’s bridesmaid Alison looked beautiful in a floaty grey dress.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And Janey’s Dad looked so proud to walk his beautiful daughter to his new son-in-law.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And Janey and Steven…well they were just all smiles for each other.

We did it!

I love this moment right at the end of the wedding ceremony. It gives me all the heart eyes looking at it.

Dollar Park

Now as much as nobody wants rain on the wedding day, full bright sun also presents its own problems for your wedding photographer. With no cloud cover, people can be squinting into the sun and end up with really harsh shadows under their eyes.

Not to worry, we were in one of Falkirk’s nicest parks and parks have an abundance of trees! I managed to herd all the guests of the minibusses and under a tree.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

What a well turned out group! They were a very cooperative bunch to organise into the various formal images my couple wanted.

Some of my personal highlights include the bride’s brother in his service uniform.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And the groom’s gorgeous 18-year-old twins.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And my new favourite thing…

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

The guys with the wedding bouquets. Don’t ask me to explain it, I can’t!

Just The Two Of You (and me)

Once the rest of the guests were on their way to the wedding reception I was able to wander around the park with my couple to get some images for them.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

The flowers in the park were putting on a beautiful display and worked as a lovely backdrop for my couple.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Janey’s wedding ring had been made from her parent’s wedding bands. It was a gorgeous way to keep them close to her so I wanted to document that.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

My favourite spot in the park looks nothing when you are there. A hedge cut archway to a path and directly behind me a derelict building. But my camera and I see something altogether more magical. I love this image.

All too soon my time with this lovely couple was up. The sun was still high in the sky and everybody was in need of some more hydration. Plus the new Mr and Mrs had a party to get to.

Congratulations again, Mr and Mrs Thomson.

Grange Manor Hotel – Kayleigh & Andrew’s Wedding

Grange Manor Hotel – Kayleigh & Andrew’s Wedding

Candle light, moon light, star light, the brightest glow is from love light.” – Grey Livingston

Love and Chicken Nuggets

Kayleigh and Andrew met in 2016 through mutual friends at a taxi rank outside Mcdonald’s after a night on the town. Andrew wasn’t even in Kayleigh’s taxi but came to the rescue when she had run out of cash to pay the driver and everyone else in the cab was too drunk to pay! What a gent 🙂

Fast forward to Christmas 2020 and Andrew surprised Kayleigh with an engagement ring wrapped up amongst her other gifts. I say surprised…Andrew had been texting Kayleigh pictures of rings to see which one she liked. So I don’t think it was a total surprise!

Groom Squad

It was lovely to be back at the Grange Manor Hotel for my second wedding there this year.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

When I got there, Andrew and his guys were making sure they were well hydrated in the hotel bar before the proceedings.

Bride Tribe

As I headed up to the bridal suite I expected to find the usual chaos and last-minute panics as everybody gets ready.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

But my beautiful bride and her bridesmaids were all ready and just chilling! I’m sure you’ll agree the bouquets from Irene’s Florist looked amazing.

Personal Ceremony

It was a lovely ceremony with lots of personal touches

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

At the beginning, both mums lit a candle from one source to signify the union of the two families.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Kayleigh and Andrew ‘tied the knot’ with a traditional handfasting ceremony.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And towards the end of the wedding ceremony, Kayleigh and Andrew took their mum’s candles and lit one candle to signify their unity as husband and wife.

But my favourite part about their ceremony was their Gin Box. A wooden box in which they had placed a nice bottle of gin and letters to each other to open on their 1st wedding anniversary.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

They sealed it with their handfasting ribbons. Isn’t that lovely?

Drizzle be gone

As usual, here in Scotland, we seemed to be getting all four seasons in the one day. But as we headed outside for the group shots the weather was playing nice.

When we got to the wedding party images we started fairly traditional.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Gorgeous as they all looked I knew we could do better than that!

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

It was deliciously awkward as those with other halves could feel them watching from behind me as I made them all snuggle up!

Good sports

My couple were super relaxed and didn’t seem to mind me dragging them around the hotel to my favourite spots.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Like the fire escape!

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Into the bushes!

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And in front of this shocking pink rhodedendrum that was giving off it’s own confetti. Isn’t Kayleigh’s wedding dress beautiful?

But my favourite image from the whole wedding was when I was getting them to walk towards me hand in hand.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

I love their expressions and how they seem to be completely oblivious to my camera and the videographer. I think it totally suited being changed to black and white and you would never know that right behind them is a huge Asda distribution centre!

Cake!

All too soon my time was up, but not before I got a picture of the wedding cake. It was a chocolate cake made and decorated by Darrell’s Wedding & Celebration Cakes.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Greenaway. Let the wedding adventure be-GIN!

Grange Manor Hotel – Susan & Iain’s Wedding

Grange Manor Hotel – Susan & Iain’s Wedding

It feels like ages since I last wrote a wedding blog about an actual wedding! December in fact! How wonderful to have Susan and Iain start off my wedding year at the beginning of April.

Weddings Are A Great Place To Meet

Susan and Iain can testify to that. They met at a mutual friend’s wedding in 2008.

The couple regularly holiday in the north of Scotland, loving the beautiful unspoiled beaches up there. And it was on one of those beautiful beaches that Iain got down on one knee and completely surprised Susan by popping the question. Even though Iain thought the secret was going to be discovered before he was ready as Susan almost stumbled across the ring hidden in a cubbyhole of the car a few times!

All Systems Go

When I got to the bridal prep room it was all going on. Susan had arranged personalised PJs for her bridal party and the girls seemed very comfortable in them.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

I couldn’t resist capturing Susan in hers with her proud mum.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Susan’s dress from Olivia Cameron Bridal was absolutely stunning. I needed help from one of the junior bridesmaids to get in hung up on the bedpost to show it off in all its glory.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Meanwhile downstairs all was calm. I even got Iain and his mum outside for a picture next to the piper.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

If you look very closely you’ll see the colour draining from his mum’s hand where I tied her corsage on super tight…well, she wanted it secure! I have heard from Susan since that they did manage to save her mother-in-law’s arm!! So all is well!!

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Also, time to get the groom and his best man in the bar. Looking very handsome in their McLeod tartan kilts.

Almost Time

And just time to sneak back upstairs and get the bridal party in all their finery

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Susan’s bridesmaids did a cracking job as did the Paige boy (not in shot).

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

I don’t think I’ve ever seen two parents as proud as Susan’s were on the day. I have a massive parent crush on her mum and dad, they are both such cuties 🙂

Aye Do

I’m not sure how it could be possible but Susan’s dad looked even more proud as he walked his girl down the aisle.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

I can’t blog about this wedding without mentioning the ceremony. It was conducted by the most amazing Rev Lindy an Interfaith Minister. It was funny, heartfelt, and poignant all at the same time.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

This picture totally sums the ceremony up and it was hard to stop my camera from shaking I was laughing so much. There was so much love and laughter in the room as well as support for the new Mr and Mrs McLeod. Lindy made it a fully inclusive celebration for everyone.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Here they are playing ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who will go first with the marriage vows!

Four Seasons In One Day

Only in Scotland, the saying goes, do you get all four seasons in one day and it certainly seemed that way on the wedding day. After glorious sunshine all morning we stepped outside to get the traditional group shot after the ceremony.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And you can’t see it here, but as I am wobbling atop my trusty stepladder in the middle of the hotel car park to get this shot, it started to snow!

So it was back inside for the rest of the group shots the couple wanted.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

I particularly like this one of Susan’s pal and gorgeous daughter from Liverpool. I asked them all to ‘strike a pose’ and Iain decided to show us all how it’s done!!

Then the sun came back out so I was able to take the couple back outside for their pictures.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Making full use of all the grounds, including the fire escape that Susan and Iain had found the night before.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

I often give my couples daft directions to get a particular response. I don’t think these two will forget the ‘sporran to bum’ position for a while!!

Tree-mendous cake

So many personal touches went into making this wedding very special including a tree trunk themed cake. Very appropriate as Iain is a tree surgeon.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

Complete with their initials carved into it. Awwww 🙂

Falkirk Wedding Photographer JB Moments Photography

And their favours were wee messages in a bottle filled with sand from their favourite northern coastline.

Let The Party Commence

The wedding breakfast was on track to be served and it was time alas for me to bid farewell to this wonderful couple and their crazy, funny, cute families. As I got back in my car and a hailstorm started (yes really), I reflected on how welcoming and friendly everyone had been and what a gorgeous day it had been.

Congratulations Mt and Mrs McLeod xXx

Glenbervie House – Sarah & Ewen’s Wedding

Glenbervie House – Sarah & Ewen’s Wedding

Glenbervie House is literally on my doorstop. I could walk to it. And you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to shoot a wedding there.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

It only took a couple from Manchester to book me…

Wait, Manchester?

Okay, let’s back up a little. Ewen is originally from Stenhousemuir and he met Manchester born Sarah when they were both working in Germany.

Ewen asked Sarah out for a drink. Despite taking her to a venue a train ride away and only paying for his own ticket (he claims it was a faulty ticket machine), they had a good time and saw each other again. Fast forward a few years and Ewen proposed to Sarah at home whilst they were both snuggled on the sofa, to her total surprise!

They decided on Glenbervie House and booked me (yay!) for a spring wedding. Then Covid struck and they were postponed until November and my penultimate wedding this year.

Tying the Knot

Sarah and Ewen had decided on a humanist ceremony and a hand fasting. Ewen’s ribbon was his tartan and Sarah’s chief bridesmaid and best friend embroidered one especially for her.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

With a bumblebee for Manchester and three hearts, one for each of Sarah’s children. Isn’t it beautiful? Mind you, Vicki who did it had plenty of practice as she had already created one with the first date on and unpicking wasn’t an option so she had to redo it all over again!

This wedding was full of so many personal and sweet touches like this.

A Bevvy of Beauties

As well as Sarah’s best friend, her eldest daughter was a bridesmaid and her youngest daughter and nieces were flower girls.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

Aren’t they stunning. The flowers were gorgeous all done by local florist Irene’s Florist. I love the wands the two littles had.

The Greatest Walk

Sarah’s dad had been poorly and I think everyone was relieved and a little emotional to be able to see him walk Sarah down the aisle.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

It was also his first time in a kilt and despite needing some help from the best man to get it on properly he looked very dapper. I don’t think it will be the last time he wears one!

Totes Emosh

Sarah was trying to hold in her happy tears from the moment she arrived. It was a beautiful ceremony and there were many glistening eyes in the audience. Sarah’s daughter had told me beforehand that she wasn’t the emotional type and that she wouldn’t cry. Imagine my surprise then when I saw this…

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

Busted!

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

I love this image I captured just after their rings were exchanged. I was going for a tight crop of just Sarah and Ewen’s hands but I had to leave her beautiful smile in. Sarah didn’t stop smiling the whole day.

The Weather Gods were Smiling

It had been an atrocious  week leading up to the wedding day with heavy rain but from the moment the bride arrived the sun came out. Despite it being bitterly cold the autumn colours were beautiful so we got the whole wedding party outside for the obligatory wedding group shots and then took some of the smaller group shots inside.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

The bare walls in the house provided a lovely background and this image of Sarah and Ewen with their little daughter and Sarah’s son and daughter gives me all the feels. They all look so happy 🙂

But that autumn light was calling me and luckily Sarah and Ewen were game enough to brave it for some stunning couple images (even if I do say so myself!)

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

Sarah’s dress was amazing and had the most amazing back to it that I had to capture.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

Star-bakers

Readers of my blogs will know that at the last wedding I shot the Groom had baked and decorated the wedding cake. Well this time the Star-Baker crown went to the Groom’s Mother who made the cake.

Dancing the Night Away

I love it when couples book me to capture the first dances.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

But it was the 2nd dance that moved me, the father daughter dance.

Falkirk Wedding Photographer - JB Moments Photography

I love how happy Sarah and her Dad are and how her Mum and Daughter are cuddling watching them. It was a lovely moment.

I always tell my couples I’ll capture some shots of the dance floor filling up after the first dances and then slope away quietly to let them get on with partying the night away in peace.

I tried to do that here but Sarah and Ewen had other ideas and caught me before I left the building 🙂

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Douglas on a truly beautiful wedding.

Dollar Park, Falkirk – Diana & James’ Wedding

Dollar Park, Falkirk – Diana & James’ Wedding

At the beginning of September, I had the great pleasure of capturing this wedding.

Stalker Alert

When I asked Diana how they met she told me that she stalked James on Facebook! Not quite as sinister as it first sounds, she knew his family but he was based in Ireland at the time so after she saw a post about him she kept a close eye on him.

Six years and two children later in the Graeme Hotel in Falkirk, James surprised Diana by getting down on one knee and popping the question.

Like so many other couples this last 18 months, Diana and James had a large wedding planned but, after all the postponements and cancelations they decided to heck with it and just got on with it!

Where’s Mum?

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

James had to wrangle two tots into kilts before making his way to Falkirk Registrars’ office. They might have made him work for it but by gosh they looked so stinking cute it should have been illegal!

Let’s get Married

Diana’s eldest son walked her down the aisle towards James who couldn’t take his eyes off his beautiful bride. Their two kids and his uncle and wife made up the rest of the wedding party.

I love this image of the three boys during the ceremony.

Micro Wedding

After the brief but poignant ceremony it was off to Dollar Park for some photos.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography
A small but perfectly formed wedding party!

It was a beautiful day and the park has so many stunning locations for photos. I was in my element.

After some group shots, the kids went to the play park with James Uncle so we could get some bride and groom shots.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

As well as beautiful trees, benches and walls there were archways everywhere to take pictures in.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

Swinging?

Luckily for me James and Diana were extremely good sports and when we headed over to meet the kids at the play park I started to suggest that James push Diana in one of the swings.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

Before I could get all my words out they were both on the swings! Love this picture 🙂

James also went to the top of the climbing frame with the two youngest boys as well!

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

No small feat when they are all in kilts!

Shhh, it’s a Secret

Apart from their witnesses James and Diana hadn’t told anybody else that they had ditched the big wedding plans and were just going to go for it. Originally they planned to keep it a secret for a while and announce at a time that was right to their families. As a result I wasn’t going to do a sneak peek like normal on Facebook the next day. But they were both high on love and I knew it wasn’t going to be long before they shared the happy news. Sure enough Diana messaged me later that night to say that James had told everyone 🙂

Good news deserves to be shared.

Congratulations again Mr & Mrs MacDonald.

Callendar House & Park – Kelly & Darren’s Wedding

“People love dogs. You can never go wrong adding a dog to the story.” – Jim Butcher

Young Love

Childhood sweethearts are a very rare and precious thing to behold, especially those that go the distance. Kelly and Darren met at school when they were just fifteen.

Ten years and one dog later they went out for a meal to celebrate their anniversary. Afterward whilst walking Belle the dog around Linlithgow Palace, Darren got down on one knee and asked Kelly to marry him.

That was in February last year and this July I had the absolute honour of capturing their wedding.

Quickest Wedding

I have never witnessed such a quick ceremony! My couple were keen to be married with minimal fuss and attention.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

It was an absolutely glorious day and they couldn’t wait to be outside at one of their favourite spots.

Favourite Tree

Callendar Park is a favourite place for Kelly and Darren to walk Belle and the wooded areas make for some great images. When I met my couple for their pre-wedding consultation we had a good traipse around all their favourite spots including Kelly’s favourite tree.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

Guest of Honour

After a slightly delayed arrival due to a very bad ‘shortcut’ Kelly and Darren’s best girl arrived. Once Belle appeared you could see them visibly relax and start enjoying themselves along with their immediate family and friend.

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

Belle was such a good girl and was delighted to be amongst all her family.

#TeamEdward

If you know, you know! The second spot we agreed on during the pre-meet was a part of the woods that gave me serious Twilight vibes. Luckily Kelly was a big fan too 🙂

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

I had this image in mind from the moment we went there and I’m happy to say it executed even better than I imagined. Plus this lot don’t even need to sparkle to look good! (again if you know, you know.)

Belle of the Ball

Can I request a dog at every wedding? Capturing these images was so much fun.

They are totally kissing behind me, aren’t they?

Honestly, she was such a model and better behaved than some guests I’ve witnessed over the years!

I wuff you too.

Park Life

We met back up with Kelly and Darren’s guests for some pictures outside Callendar House, well it would be rude not to really!

Wedding Photographer in Falkirk - JB Moments Photography

Then everyone was off for a meal to celebrate.

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Wilson and Belle xoxo
