Venachar Lochside – Stacy and Neils Wedding
I’d just about finished season 4 of Stranger Things when I captured Stacy and Neil’s wedding so I kept confusing Venachar with Vecna (IYKYK). Luckily this beautiful lochside venue is nothing like the evil character from the upside-down world. Phew!
All Work And Some Play
In a tale as old as time itself, Stacy met Neil at work in 2010. Not long after she invited him on holiday to Switzerland, (as you do), and the rest is history. Fast forward seven years on a trip to Heaver Castle for Stacy’s birthday (or so she thought). Neil drops down on bended knee on the drawbridge and asks Stacy to marry him.
Kilts
Neil had never worn a kilt before his wedding day. To be fair when he came down with the stitching still in the pleats we kinda guessed. A bit of help from the venue owner and me and he was good to go.
He looked very dapper and I suspect it won’t be the last time he wears one!
OMG! It Has Pockets!
Stacy meanwhile arrived with her parents and sister (who was one of her bridesmaids).
She looked absolutely breathtaking and was most amused when she heard me squeal, OMG! It has pockets! I had to pose her to show them off!
(Outside) Room With A View
All the while we had been waiting for the ceremony to start the sky was blue with little fluffy clouds. Then just before Stacy arrived the wind licked up a notch and the sky looked a little stormy. But it stayed dry and gave us the most stunning backdrop.
These guys really went for it with the confetti! I think poor Stacy was picking it out of her underwear later on!
Wedding Crew
Stacy and Neil’s family and friends were wonderful on the day and up for a laugh. None more so than the bridal party.
The view of the Loch is so stunning it’s hard to tear yourself away from it but the venue has all sorts of great locations for photos including a straw bale wall.
Ahh lovely and traditional but one of the things this couple had said to me at our pre-wedding consultation was that they didn’t want the ‘traditional everyone in a line’ images. Well, okay then…Everybody jump.
The bride and the bestman got some serious air. Stacy’s sister (far left) also managed to spectacularly throw her champagne all over herself. I delivered a whole series of these pictures and I love them all!
The Dark Side
Stacy chose her Irregular Choice shoes first and built her outfit around them. So they needed to be documented.
Yup, those heels are Darth Vaders. Awesome aren’t they? And the fact that she jumped in the picture above in those is even more impressive.
Informally Formal
I had so much fun with this couple walking around the perimeter of the venue.
You all know my love of black and white and I think they look like rockstars in this image! So cool!
Equally, when there are old chesterfields and neon signs in the venue you have to use them. It would be crimes against photography if you didn’t.
At the consultation, Neil also asked for an image of Stacy punching him. These turned out even better than I expected.
Great Guests
I’ve mentioned how lovely all the wedding guests were. They all made me feel so welcome and part of the family. But one, in particular, was a riot. Great Aunt Vera was an absolute legend. She customised her walker with fairy lights and was telling me some tales of drinking and debauchery that would make a sailor blush.
I wanted to take her home! I suspect after I left she was dancing on the tables and flirting with the barman!
Cake!
Stacy told me their wedding cake was ‘birthday cake flavour’ which sounded amazing. The cake topper was super cool too. A customised lego topper showing where they met and even featuring their beloved pet cat.
I love my job, especially when my couples and their guests are this cool. I smiled all the way home 🙂
Congratulations again Mr and Mrs Honeyman xXx
