When couples first enquire about wedding photography, they often tell me about the photographs they know they want.

And don’t get me wrong, those photographs matter. They absolutely deserve a place in your wedding album.
But after photographing weddings for many years, I’ve noticed something interesting.
The photographs couples treasure most often aren’t the ones they planned.
They’re the ones they never saw coming.
The Photograph That Means More With Every Passing Year
This is one of my favourite wedding photographs.
Not because it’s technically perfect.
Not because it’s dramatic.
Because it’s real.
A daughter sharing a moment with her mum on her wedding day.
At the time, it was simply a lovely moment between two people who love each other.

It becomes a reminder of a relationship.

When I take couples away for portraits, I never keep them for long.
I’d much rather they spend their wedding with their guests than standing in front of my camera all day.

And that’s exactly why they’re worth photographing.
