A Love Story 20 Years in the Making
September has been a busy month of wonderful wedding photography, starting with these two in Edinburgh.
In a tale as old as time itself, Therese and Steven first met 20 years ago. Therese was out clubbing with a big group of girlfriends when, across the dance floor, she caught the eye of Steven, who was celebrating a big birthday with his mates. Sparks flew, conversations started… and two decades later (yes, 20 years!), they finally decided to say “I do.”
Therese found me thanks to her hairdresser, who shared that I had photographed her own wedding. And that’s how I ended up capturing this pair’s joyous celebration.
Rain, Laughter, and a White Wedding Brolly
When I arrived at the Leonardo Hotel in Edinburgh, the heavens had opened — it was absolutely pishing it down, as we say in Scotland. Out came my trusty white wedding brolly.
But I needn’t have worried. As soon as I stepped into Therese’s room, the atmosphere was alive with laughter as she got ready with her mum, sisters, and friends. A bit of rain was never going to dampen these spirits.

By the time I made it downstairs to capture Steven and his best man (also called Steven — just to keep me on my toes), the skies had cleared and blue was peeking through.

Dancing Down the Aisle
Therese didn’t just walk down the aisle — she danced down it with her mum, straight to her beaming groom. After a quick but heartfelt ceremony, they were finally pronounced husband and wife.

The new Mr and Mrs Collcutt walked back down the aisle grinning from ear to ear, showered with love (and a lot of confetti — most of which ended up down Therese’s dress courtesy of her mum!).

Trust, Hills, and Traffic
After some group photos and plenty of giggles, I whisked the bridal party away for portraits. Therese and Steven were game for anything — even a steep scramble up a hillside and a dash across a very busy road so I could capture them in the fields opposite the hotel. Luckily, they trusted my vision, and the results were worth every step.

Speeches, Cake, and a Joyful Dancefloor
The wedding breakfast was followed by heartfelt speeches. Therese’s Maid of Honour completely stole the show with a handmade book of memories, filled with stories that had everyone in stitches — and a few tears too.

As the evening went on, laughter carried through the room. At the cake cutting, Therese was still bubbling with joy, and when the first dance began, the happiness between them was infectious.

Worth the Wait
Driving home, I reflected on what a beautiful day it had been. Therese and Steven’s story proves that sometimes love really is worth waiting for — and that good things truly do come to those who wait.
Congratulations again Mr & Mrs Collcutt xXx
